Today, SiC is used for space satellite structures and large reflectors, abrasives, disc brakes, clutch plates, diesel particulate filters, pyrometry filaments, cutting tools, nuclear fuel element coatings, protective armour, jewelry, heating elements, catalyst supports and steel making.
However, none of these methods are suitable for ultra-high dynamic, ultra-low inertia applications where piece-to-piece homogenity and processability allow for optical grade surfaces and flexural strengths at photonics industry prices.
Therefore optoSiC GmbH have developed the optoSiC+ optical grade of SiC, and with our technology partners filed extensive intellectual property to protect our unique investments.
